Witness statement name:
Judy MacGuyver, Age 47, Homeowner, Victim’s Mother

Witness statement:
It’s all my husband’s fault for taking advice from some handyman he found in the local paper. He should have asked an expert.

At first we loved the house after the renovation. But after a while, there was only one annoying issue: every so often for no reason the power would go off in my son Mikey’s bedroom and my husband Angus would have to go to the basement and turn the breaker back on. The contractor told us that it would be three weeks before he could look at the problem so he told us to hire an electrician ourselves. Angus found this handyman who was really cheap. We were told that the new type of breakers installed in the panel was the problem and the handyman swapped out the problem breaker with an old-style one. Here we are now and there was a fire in Mikey’s bedroom – we were lucky to get out alive.
