Pumper 361, Squad 101 & 102 responded to smoke coming from an electrical service panel. Emergency response crews investigated Pumper 361 successfully extinguished the fire while squad 101 & 102 ventilated the structure. Investigation revealed pre-existing water damage in the basement. Homeowner confirmed that there had been a flood 14 months prior with a water level more than 1.5 metres deep. The panel had a high water mark, and the breaker that failed was below the mark. The handyman stated that there was no water that entered the panel so no need for any replacement. Aside from fire damage, the circuit breaker had corrosion damage forcing it to remain in the “ON” position.
